Got a late launch due to working last night (sorry about the swearing for you retired folks  ;)) but I was on the water,  trolling just past the breakers after setting up my cameras all by 7:30am.

7:35 just after passing a bait ball, I get a decent takedown just north of the rock. 40' on the line counter, using a diver, 8" green pro troll dodger with a purple hoochie. Bonk for one hatchery coho and a great start of a fishing trip.

About 15 minutes later I mark another bait ball just north west of the rock and start aggressively trolling through the two bait balls back and fourth in the same 100' stretch and BAM a BIG takedown, line is peeling and I dropped my sandwich to get a hold of the rod and proceed to reel in a massive.... black.  ;D those things can hit HARD!  On the stringer it went. I continued my strategy,  back and fourth between bait balls, tried everything from 15' down to 100' of line on the counter. Got a few misses, a couple undersized lings and 3 more black rockfish trolling at different depths. Tried switching to a pink hoochie but no luck there. A couple hours later I hit a few reefs hoping for some lings but they were a no show for me. One last stop on the way in at my self titled "snaggy reef" and picked up a cabby for my 5th rockfish.  Was on the beach by noon.

Water was too clear until the rock, just north and west of it was some good nutrient/bait rich "dirty" water. The kind I love to troll the edge of where you find massive bait balls. I didn't bother to go farther west looking for more salmon. Possibly tomorrow! Planning on going a lot earlier as I believe the bite died around 10. Even the blacks quit biting for me. Tomorrow I may try and find a quick limit of blacks on the way out  and head a little deeper. I saw some suspicious fish finder activity that I believe was Chinook, we shall see!

Is snaggy just north of the rock on the west end? I always lose tackle there. Good job on the coho. I'm jealous.

Nice report! Some of my most successful spots in PC are snaggy, but also have produced so nice fish.

Will see you there tomorrow and based on @MonkeyFist post will be dropping a crab pot on the way out.

If I remember, beer run I'll call for ya on the radio to see if you're out there yet.

Guppy, snaggy reef for me is just north of the rock, east of it about halfway to the cape. Dunno what is down there but I marked it one day just passing over it, went back to fish it later and lost 4 diamond jigs. It's got some 30-40 foot drop-offs and what feels like a lot of kelp I can get ya the numbers if you were interested ;)

I would prefer the numbers for the productive not snaggy reef!  ;D

I was wondering who that was out there with the coho.  I am glad someone got one because the fish checker said very few have been caught so far.
