Nehalem River Thursday 13th

Ok let’s get our salmon on! I’ll likely be there around 8:00-8:30 in Wheeler. Bring your wheels Incase the limited parking is full and you gotta park topside.

Hope to hear some positive reports from the Nehalem!!   Sorry I can't join you this time.

Good day on the water, I had 3 takedowns but couldn’t get them to stick, couple of quick hits also but no salmon for this guy. I’ll let cjweinhe  and the other guys tell ya all about what they landed successfully.

One Sculpin for me and a stick that was actually bigger than my Sculpin for my son.  Unfortunately he foul hooked it so he had to let it go

Not much of a fight but man that was a good rod bend, and you did have to land it to remove your hook, good on you to release a native back to the wild 

Did you guys see any salmon action from others (in boat)? Did you fish the bend in the river/bay at Wheeler?

Not much action from anyone there.  There was only 2 fish that I know of that were caught.  We fished from above the pylons above Wheeler down to below the pylons below Wheeler.

Mojo - were your hits from salmon??  What tackle were you using?  I'm assuming herring as bait, but never know.

It’s was an old school hard imitation plug cut herring with a single barbed hook, passed on to me from my late grandpa. And a blue fox orange, they were likely coho but I never seen them, snags don’t shake so I ruled that out.
