Here is a fish my son caught last summer. I gotta try the big game kayaking!

I looked into it when we went to the Big Island 2 years ago.  There was a guy in the Kona area running guided trips with Hobies if I remember right.  Ended up doing a boat charter so wife could get involved.  Big island seems like the best area as you can be fishing for yellow fin within half a mile from shore and you are the leeward side so the seas are not nearly as rough.   I know Maui requires a much longer travel to get into the areas where the pelagics are.    We are hoping to go to Kauai in the next year or so (pending COVID) and I may look into what can do there.

I have to imagine if you started research ahead of time, may be able to get some locals to go out with.

Looks like there is a guide on Kauai using Hobie's too...may have to do that.  250 for a 4 hour trip isnt too bad

Check out Flying Fish TV on YouTube. Kayak angler based on Oahu. He catches some very impressive fish! It's made me think about a Hawaii trip post-pandemic.

On the YouTube channel Kayak Fishing Kauai, on episode 1 one of the guys catches a nice GT, I think they call that an Ulua. Anyway, he loses most of his fish to sharks, and one of his buddies that is a ways to the side puts his go pro under water and you can see 3 large sharks circling under the guys kayak. Yikes, that would sure make you want to get you fish out of the water in a hurry.

I'm going to visit several of the islands in March. Sent emails to every kayak fishing outfitter I found online (5), only one has bothered to respond, Bucket List Adventures Kauai.
Maybe it's because of covid?
Anyway, Nathan form Bucket List got back to me within minutes, and we had a great chat, I look forward to fishing with him.
Of the four other outfitters I reached out to, two listed prices (both $600 for a six hour tour), and two did not.
Bucket List charges $250 for four hours, not sure why such a big price discrepancy in comparison.
I will probably see if I can pay a little more to stay out longer, as I have no idea if or when I will get a chance to do this again.
He said they usually get a few wahoo (ono), that time of year, but that we will most likely be targeting tuna (ahi) and dorado (mahi).
I'd be stoked to have any of those species tow me around!
Hopefully, some of the other guides will get back to me soon, as I will be going to two or three of the islands. Can anyone recommend an outfitter I may have missed, have any suggestions on the topic?

The ones who did not respond may have shut down for the duration, since the flow of tourists and their $$$ to the islands has pretty much disappeared. Or, they might be busy doing subsistence fishing...  Maybe they’ll respond when they get a chance.  Good luck, wish I could go too!
