I find my desired trips are trending more and more towards very remote destinations requiring multiday trips and camping on remote beaches. There's just one problem: I don't want to have any fish anywhere near my gear or camp overnight. Bear-hanging a cooler is just not practical. So far I've only kept fish on the last day when I'm returning to the truck. My thinking on this has led me to 2 possible solutions:

1) Some sort of cooler/anchor/buoy system to keep a catch in the water out in a protected bay. There's a lot that can go wrong with that setup and I think it could instead attract animals of the marine persuasion, particularly seals.

2) A heavier, more protected cooler alternative like a big Pelican case or long rifle case. Would again probably be best in the water, just below tide lines, tied off to a long rope secured up the beach. The metal pieces in hinges and latches rusting out is the biggest problem I've thought of so far.

Has anyone here tackled this issue already? And if not, care to offer a critique?

not sure about BC...but you cannot leave game fish in a pen left unattended in Oregon. Just put you catch on ice in a cooler and pour bleach around the cooler before going to bed. Bears do not like that chlorine smell.
