I am thinking about getting serious about hitting the big river Fri-Sun. Just to beat the heat if nothing else. Anyone else heading out. I am looking at the mouth of the Lewis or Bulock.  Anyone else going out?

A friend and I will be at Blurock tomorrow. Launch shortly after first light to catch the last hour of the incoming tide.
I''ll be hitting the Columbia again on Saturday but do not know yet where (also depends on how tomorrow goes).

I am planning on getting out east of Bonneville. I have been fishing Chinook landing some since getting my kayak last year. The afternoon tide change had me standing still for quite a while before I even noticed. Hoping for easier trolling on the other side of the dam.

What time do you think you will drop your first rig and be trolling? I am lock and loaded, just looking for an alarm clock setting.

Thanks! Beats the crap out of being on the water in Wheeler at the same time. One more beer and another episode of Alone.

Agreed. In addition, lots and lots of weeds in Wheeler lately. Friends of my were crabbing two weeks ago...they thought that someone stole their pots but found them back a mile downstream TOTALLY covered in weeds and very difficult to pull up from all the extra weight (and zero crabs...).
Also, if this is your first time at Blurock: make sure you enter the parking lot via the entrance....road spikes will rip your tires if you try enter via the exit (very well visible at day time, not sure when still dark). Now indeed time for a beer. see you tomorrow.

So funny on the weeds in Hehalem. Good story while trolling tomorrow. Managed a small chinook and a decent number of crabs but had a similar incident with crab pots.

No fee at Blurock. Frenchman's bar, which is a mile down the road, is charging a fee (was 4$ a few years ago but haven't been there since i "discovered" Blurock)

Made it out to who songs this morning around 6:00 and saw one pb pulling up a fish while I was still setting up.  I started trolling upstream pulling a 360 flasher and a brads cut plug.  Fish on at 7:45 i got a nice fat hen.  My biggest so far from the yak at 33.0 inches and 17 pounds. Also my first submission for the AOTY!

Nice fish indeed. Congrats!

Four kayakers launched from Blurock to troll Davis Bar. Long story short: we got our butts kicked by the power boaters. The bite was pretty good from first light until 8 am with at least a dozen fish (that we saw) being caught. None for the kayakers though. Later in the morning the bits slowed considerably.
