1st time to the lake since the fires.  Water is very low.  I hate to use the winter ramp, but it was the only viable option that I'm aware of when the water is this low.  I took a look at Detroit Flats Day Use Area.  Forget it!

I had to weed through about 30 Rainbow Trout and smolts to just get two Kokanee.  Only four boats on the water in addition to my kayak.  Fish jumping all day.  It was cold, but there was so much action that I didn't even think about it until I decided to head in.  The sun showed itself a couple of times and each time, the bite died.

Now that the ocean is pretty much unyakable, I'll be hitting Detroit more often.

Pretty fishes, Dave.  No snow at lake level?
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

I like your "unyakable" term.  Made me smile.

Mongold park, I think....
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Thank you.
I  may give Detroit a try this winter depending on conditions.
