Quick question - are you guys on anchor in this fishery?

Ended up not going. No one seemed interested, and the weather report took a pretty bad turn.

Yes, I have been fishing anchored, there is some current, but it was pretty light both times I went.
It's a flat muddy bottom, and a lil 3 pound grapnel kept me in place fine. Until dinosaurs started dragging me around, that is.

I see some people just hang a leg over the buoy line, or tie to old pilings sticking out by the pier.

So an anchor may not be completely necessary, but I find it's the best way to stay in place while waiting for a nibble.

This is a cool little fishery, me and my brother hooked 5-7 each using fresh caught squid.

Indeed! I've been twice so far, caught five the first time, and two the second time, all nice size, and great fights.

That was my first time ever fishing in Oregon, there are plenty of locals that can answer that question if they want to.

In my experience, there's a certain population that stays in the basin year round, but a lot of them leave the area when the water temp warms up in late spring. They can still be caught, but usually May-Sept sees much less action.
