Anyone have success in Seattle-ish area rivers for steelhead? I want to start going for steelhead but I am a novice. Looking for some places that are kind of close to home, but I can drive a couple hours for a good spot. Any tips?

I get the sense that folks put a lot of time into finding good spots so may not be that inclined to share. If I were you I'd do some research and then hit likely spots with no expectation of hooking into a fish, and just build from there.

Sorry man, I was giving you shit because our steelhead are practically extinct. I doubt there will be a spring Skagit season, and the coast has new regs out right now because of the dismal projected escapements. There aren't any hot spots. Just a species on the brink. Go to any big run on the Skagit and you'll find some open water.  Tie on a spoon or fly, whatever your flavor and fish away. Pay attention to other fisherman, what they're doing, and don't low hole.
