Howdy y'all. A monstrous machine landed on our front porch at the shop late last week, and after cutting away the wrapping we laid our eyes upon the Riot Mako 14. I'm generally not a big kayak guy, but I figured a 14ft beast at $2k is worth taking for a spin. It's a pretty dang cool boat! Here's a link to the full walkthrough video and on water review:

1. Does the drive noise quiet down after a specific break in period ?

2. That looks like a looooong way from the seat to the pedals. That because you  have  long legs and had to adjust out , or is it just the design?

3. Can the seat be put into a more erect position?  With my lower spine injuries,  that semi reclined , perched on the tail bone  posture would make things very unpleasant inside of 2 hours.

4. Is there provision for add on , in hull,  access hatches ? As wide as it is, it begs to have a large square hatch in front of the seat.

1) Nope, it's just a loud drive. The biggest difference between the more expensive pedal driven kayaks on the market and the less expensive ones is the quality of the drive. I've yet to find a prop style drive on a cheaper kayak that isn't at least this loud.

2) The seat can slide way further forward than that, but I think it's just the GoPro's wide angle lens making it looks like I'm way further away from the drive than I actually am. I do also have fairly long legs, so that probably didn't help either.

3) Yes, the seat can be reclined and leaned forward.

4) There's a lot of structure to the hull with all of the gear tracks, so it might be tough to find a spot to mount a big hatch in the cockpit.
