Hi everyone, BiggyZee here. I live in Seattle. Hoping to discuss kayak fishing and crabbing and shrimping.

I'm usually a shore and pier fisher, not an expert but not a beginner. I also like foraging as well.
Tried inflatable boat at first, then had a folding kayak. Currently don't have a kayak atm but saving up to get a modular kayak in the future.
I'm new to kayak fishing so I'd like to meet up with anyone willing to teach me the ropes and make kayak fishing buddies.

2021 Goals:
- Lingcod
- Spot shrimp
- Gooseneck Barnacle
- Chinook
- Halibut ???

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Biggy!

You've got some serious Kayak Fishing 201 and 401 goals on your list.  Make sure you have good immersion gear (dry/wet suit) and know how to manage lines and get back in your ride before tackling those.  That said, this is a great place to meet people who can help you get up to speed on the necessary skills.

Oh hi Mark.
Not sure what you mean on managing lines. Is that fishing 2 poles at the same time?
I have a Kokatat drysuit. Will practice recovery when new kayak.  ;D

Fishing line can be an issue. Some of us also tether our gear (rods, paddle, etc.) for easy retrieval. If you go in the water, you could get tangled. If you capsize & get hung up in a line, stay calm & try to get clear. Cutting yourself free would be a last resort, but I carry two knives, small one on my pdf & a dive knife strapped to my leg just in case. Flip your kayak & practice self rescue in calm water near shore (deep enough so you don't bang your head on the bottom) to get the hang of it. A self rescue rope can be handy for larger kayaks. There are lots of self rescue videos online.

Appreciate the advice! I usually carry a knife, will get another small one for my PFD.
