Hey All,

Are there any Springer newbies in the Portland area who'd like an On-The-Water Springer clinic?  Yes, you old salts would be welcome to join in but this is directed at those of you who have tried once or twice and failed or who just have Kayak caught Spring Chinook on their bucket list.

If there's enough interest, I'll arrange a place and day.

Thanks!

Newby interested. Green is an understatement. Just got my kayak yesterday. Outfitting it and taking it out on the lake this weekend. Hopefully ready to fish the following weekend. ;D

I'm interested, depending on the date. I'm up north, but have family down in the Portland area we visit periodically.

Very interested here. Tried the Willy today, lovely weather, but nothing biting in the Sellwood area.
Schedule is pretty flexible!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Excellent!

Next Saturday there's a tide change just after sunset and then an incoming till 11:00ish.  That would give us 2 tide changes and easy uphill trolling in between.

Who's free that day?

That always seems to happen right after I say I have a flexible schedule!
Really appreciate the invite tho!

If Sunday works better for the majority, I can be flexible.

I will be building a fence at my new place in Drain Wed-Sun.
Hoping to try for bass in my kayak, on the Umpqua for the first time, probably Fri, if anyone wants to go, or has input on good places to launch and fish.
My schedule will be a lot more open after next week.

My GF has given me permission for either day. What time are we looking to get on the water?

Is this tutorial decent for selecting gear?
https://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=33

I'm thinking that a river - with submerged snags etc, makes using a downrigger (even one spooled w/ 40lb braid and a knife handy) a bit dicey on a kayak?
