Best buy dry suit

I everyone. I'm not rich, so I'd.like some advice. I'm looking for
A dry suit that won't break the bank. Planning on fishing Newport bay and possibly off shore at Pacific City.

If there was one place I wouldn't go cheap it would be on safety gear. Spend a little extra to get a quality product. With that being said I bought a Kokatat Hydrus Supernova which I don't know how it compares to other products in the quality department since this was my first dry suit purchase and I've only worn it once but I bought it from Outdoor Play in October and they honored a 10% off deal for being a first time customer. Tyler Hicks who is on this forum did a YouTube video review (Spilt Milt Productions) of 4 suits, you might watch that before purchasing or use the search feature on this site. Good Luck

I found one on Craigslist. If you check out a used one, you can turn it inside out and fill it with water to check for leaks.

I like that mine has a relief zipper, but it's rear entry so I always need another person to help zip/unzip me. You'll want to think about those types of factors as well as price.

A wetsuit, waders plus a drytop, all work just fine. You can sometimes find a decent user drysuit for 300-400 bucks. Eventually most people get a full on drysuit, but maybe work their way up to it budget wise.

Check out discussions in the ORC archives for the minimum immersion/survival gear for competitors for options, although I think Noah covered all of them.  You can be safe on the water without going all Cadillac and breaking the bank.

I started with paddling pants and a dry top, moved to a wetsuit, then to a semi-dry suit (Kokatat Angler Hydrus 3L).  I still use the paddling pants as waist-high waders and the wetsuit when fishing the coastal lakes and small sloughs where a dry suit is overkill, so none of my initial gear went to waste - except the dry top, but that's because of excessive fluffiness on my part.  If I could still fit into it, I'd find a use for it. 

P.S. I have a front-zip wetsuit with a zipper that's long enough to offer relief if that's a concern.

If I am just in my back yard in WA I don’t normally use one.
I just use a life jacket.
This limits me to only be local.

At my California spot where I am in open water I use a wetsuit and I am safe.

I too would like to get the right gear.
It’s just not cheap so I use a wet suit.

So I am interested with your question.
