Here's some summary info for the following buoy that I found on the NOAA NDBC site..

Nicely done Brian!

I knew you couldn't resist.   ;D
I'm sure you wanted to know the answer as much as I did.

And in case you didn't know, 1 standard deviation is a confidence interval of 68.27%.

I wanted it enough to do a quick Google search.  I didn't want the answer quite enough to have to download, compile and graph the data myself.  I've done it for work before, it's not fun.

Actually the range between -1 sd and +1 sd (i.e. the two standard deviations around the mean) is a confidence interval of 68.27%.  So yeah, the red bars in these figures represent 68.27% of the data for that month.

So yer sayin' that if we plan fer this here date, we've gots us a 70 percent chance that the winds will be a blowin tween 3-n-14 of them knot thingys and the seas'll be 1 r'2 feet?

Worst case'd be 5 feet-n- 25 knots?

And are you going to need them to shake it for you too!?! Next you'll be asking for a sexy masseur and a hot tub! Come on Man! Where are your stones!?!?!

All you need is somebody to take you out 40 miles the night before, drop you off with some sabiki rigs, and pick you up the next night (or as soon as the storm(s) subside). And the only reason you need the lift is because you don't have pedals! You gotta MAN-UP!  >:D

(sign me up as soon as the hot tub is confirmed and I got dibs on the 4 pm massage)

Wave heights are in meters.  So.. worst case is more like 16.4 ft and 25 kts.
