I was thinking of heading up to the Columbia this weekend, to try for sturgeon.

I have never fished the Big C, and was hoping someone could recommend spots to launch and holes to fish?

Any info would be most appreciated!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

That's a pretty broad question for a pretty big river.  :) Any particular area/region? A lot of kayakers head to the lower Willamette to the "Swan Island Basin" area. There is no current there so you don't have to anchor, which is nice.

A lot of the oversize fish below Bonneville come from around Beacon Rock and up. You may try reaching out to Uplandsandpiper and see if he has any advice; he seems to find oversized sturgeon on the kayak with ease.

Thank you Mr Redbeard!

Was initially planning on going for some keepers, but it looks like I'm not gonna be able to make it up there anyway.
