I just wanted to double check...

~Two rod validation is no good on the ocean, correct?

~After catching a salmon in the ocean, all rigs used afterwards must
have barbless single hooks, correct? So rockfish first, salmon second?

                 Thank you!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

You are correct on both fronts. Salmon, rockfish/cabezon/greenling/lingcod, and halibut are limited to one rod. Once you have salmon on board, you're stuck with salmon regulations: single barbless hooks, no more than two hooks on one line.

Today through Saturday are all-depth halibut days. If you happen to catch a halibut, you can only keep it if you don't have any rockfish/cabezon/greenling/lingcod on board. All-depth halibut days are a nuisance for kayakers, but thems the rules.

catching rockfish with barbless hooks can be fun and it's easy to release the smaller ones.  Consider it a challenge of your skills.

let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,

that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Most people will get bottomfish first. Then salmon. Or depending on where you're at, get your salmon really quick (should be easy this week), head back to the rig put them in a cooler then head out with normal bottomfish gear ;) Easy at PC!

Focused on salmon today mostly. Had takedowns, but unlike Clay, I didn't catch any.
Had planned on only fishin lures for rockfish, but action was slow (well, for everyone but Clay, who was using herring). So I switched to herring, only had barbless hooks. Lost one nice fish, but got a big yellow eye, and a keeper ling despite no barbs. Not as big of a deal as I thought it would be.
