As of now, the ocean looks a bit sketchy (for me at least). Curious if folk who struggle without fishing at least once on the weekend have any plans. I am noodling on:
Astoria above the bridge on the WA side on the incoming tide,, Columbia  mouth of the Lewis, Merwin

Or is this a  NASCAR /PGA weekend?

LOL. Yeah Alaska has had one of the crappiest summers in my longterm memory (51 summers) and I've seen more golf and NASCAR than I had planned.   Fortunately with no job my "weekend" can start on any day of the week to thwart the weather forecast.

For Astoria, is the WA side above the bridge the best location for kayakers or could you do out of hammond on an incoming? From what i have read the channel just outside the hammond boat basin can be a good spot for catching, whether it is kayak appropriate/safe is a whole other questions.

The only time I fished Astoria was early days of my kayak fishing. I launched at what looked like an abandoned ramp of some sort 3 miles ish up the river on the WA side. Launch was decent. No fish, but was in a bunch of boats. Read the Columbia report for last week and there was squat up river from Astoria but decent catch rates low. Decisions, decisions. Maybe Merwin?

We hooked quite 10+ last weekend from a PB outside the Hammond basin during slack tide, and the bait fish were boiling. Saw one kayaker. But the tide gets ripping there. WA above the bridge down to church hole may be a safer bet.
