Hey everyone, I moved to the PNW earlier this summer and thought I would join this forum to learn about how you all fish this area. I am also hoping to get some input on a new kayak, as mine isn't really designed to fish (Delta GT 15.5).

I came from northern BC and I am all about trout, but want to get my hands on some salmon, lingcod, and rockfish next summer.

Nice fish in the picture! Welcome to NWKA! Lots of information in these pages and nice group of people to share ideas, experiences and sometimes fishing adventures. At least from my experience you can fish pretty much from any kayak, depending on where, when and what you are fishing for, plus your experience with that kayak. I routinely fish the salt (mainly Puget Sound waters), lakes and rives from an array of kayaks, sit in kayaks (home made CLC 16 wooden kayak), small sit on top kayaks (Scrambler 11), fast sit on top kayaks (Tarpoon 160), kayak/canoe hybrids (NuCanoe), etc. They all have their advantages. Making your transition from freshwater to the ocean, you will find that more considerations need to be taken such as wind, tides, currents, etc, make sure you check the safety pages here (https://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?board=40.0[/url]), they have tons of useful information. Have fun and be safe!
