I have one of Roy's plain "Fish Strokers" and feels really nice in your hand and is dense enough to get the job done.  If I remember correctly they're made out of myrtle wood which has a real fancy grain to it.  The Oregon myrtle is endemic to Southern Oregon and a bit of Northern California and myrtle wood craft items like this are a real southern Oregon specialty.

I'll trade you some tropical hard hard haaarrrrrddd wood for you to make me a fish bonker (or two).
A few years ago I picked up about 3 cords of firewood from a local pallet place.  They get their wood from the dunnage coming from the shipping crates into Portland.  The softer wood is used for their pallets, and the hard woods are sold as firewood, and wood workers.  I only burn the tropical oak which burns clean and freaking hot!

I have some pieces of some bizarre wood in my pile that has some awesome colors and grain structures, and I have no idea what they are but they are realllllly hard wood.  Also, have quite a few chunks of mahogany in 2 or 3 colors (can't remember).   If you turn blanks and make ball point pens, this wood would make some really nice pens for sure.

PM if you're interested.

I use my homemade one (from an ax handle) to bonk poachers that I sneak up on. Its kind of like hunting, only better. >:D  Just kidding. I only just gather info and "snitch" on 'em.

Seriously, the end of an old shovel handle (slightly bulbous on the end) with a lanyard on the grip end takes about 5 minutes to make. Any broken handle, cut off to the right length, will work.

The ones coosbayyakker makes sure are purty, though. ;D It would be kinda nice to mess one up really badly with some fish blood. :D

I love the look of myrtle wood. In fact, when I can afford one, I hope to have a custom acoustic guitar made with myrtle wood. It has a fairly warm tone.

Too cool!  Put me down for a plain myrtlewood one, with a purty figure in the wood, please!

How do you want to get paid??
