So I have this picture saved on my work computer as my background so I look at it everyday. This day was one of the best days of my life! I grabbed this picture off of a youtube video that was published.

That is me right under the word coast. Who else is in this picture? Literally yesterday I realized that there is one other person not on a Hobie and I was surprised. Who is that at the front of this group? Might be Bsteves? Who else is in this picture?

Thank you for the help! Whoever you are, just know that you are famous in my mind and I look at this picture and think about that day every single day!

Can’t say for sure, but my guess is that Jed is second and Mike Ragland is third.  Not many people with the orange special edition Outback, so the last one might be John (dark tuna)

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

I believe the Ocean Kayak Trident in the front is Mark Veary ("Spot").  My Trident is less chartreuse in color, my dry suit more mango, and my safety flag is a triangle.  Also, I'm probably still doing safety checks at this point in the morning.

I agree with Jed and Mike following in 2nd and 3rd.

Orange Hobie LE look like dark tuna's.  There aren't that many of those around.

That could be me in the #2 spot. Not sure...

I zoomed in on the picture and I am pretty sure that Jed is in the 2nd spot. Darker skin, no neck, yeah that is Jed. Has the same fish bag on the bow as his PC picture.

That was also my 1st time ever on the ocean from a kayak. That day basically started the addiction. I have only logged onto MSW like 97,000,000 times, and several other sites as well in hopes of finding a fishing day since that day.

Awesome memory and photo! 2017 was my first (fishing) ORC. I believe 2016 was the bad weather year that had the official event fishing cancelled. Either way it was a great day and one that made me fall in love with Depoe bay fishing.

Yeah, good fishing with you that day.

2017 was the year I caught a 24 lbs lingcod, bigger than any fish ever turned in in ORC history to that point, and I didn't come in first.

We got some bigguns that day! Rawkfish came in with a 20+ as well, I believe.

Clayman, those are some Dandy Lingcod!

I came in early that day with my limit of fish. I was in by about 1030. I checked in the 1st slam of the day and was very happy with an 8th place finish for my 1st time fishing on the ocean (from a kayak).

That's definitely Spot in the lead. Can't mistake that Trident or his color choices for safety reasons.

Guilty!   ;D

I have since switched over to a Hobie for most of my fishing but I still have that Trident for when I need to feel the glide.

Thanks for the memory!

I am in the photo with the orange dry suit hat and yellow kayak.  One of my favorite years at the tournament.
