Friday looks better.  Shore break on Saturday could be tough and conditions are changing throughout the day.  I always check the camera before hand.  https://www.capekiwandarvresort.com/MOBI/Webcam.html

I just got back from PC (without my yak) and was dreaming the whole time about being out there...flat, sunny, beautiful....then I'd look down at the breakers at the beach and realize oh yeah I'd never make it out there. It's a surfing/bodyboarding break.

Fogerty or Depoe might be a better bet.

With the primary swell directly from the west and the secondary and tertiary swells from the west or south, you're not going to get much protection from the cape. This tends to equate to more challenging kayak launching. I'm not saying it's impossible, and to each their own, I'm just saying be careful.

I'm gonna try Fogarty tomorrow. If it looks iffy there, I'll head to Depoe. Aiming for an 0830-0900 launch.

I am at Fogarty right now and I look fine for a launch. I am now in the south parking lit prepping my boat.

Nice to meet you at Fogarty today, Wilyakfish!

Beautiful ocean today. Shore break was a bit chunky early on, but she laid down as the morning went on. Fogarty Creek shifted to the south, making the north lot the easier place to launch from this year. I was tempted to head out deep for big lings, but chose to just stay inshore and play in the shallows. The blacks "chose violence" today and ate most of my lingcod bait. Kept five chunky blacks as incidental catch while targeting lings. Filled my ling limit with 30 and 31 inch lings. Released a large cabezon.

It was a pleasure to pull on some bottomfish on a beautiful January day  8).

Thanks for the info. Still getting used to magic seaweed so wasn’t sure how to tell swell direction but makes sense now.  ;D

Fun morning at Fogarty. The Ling was delicious. And thanks a lot to Clayman for sharing his expertise.
