Gonna try to get there around sunrise, but will be taking a longer route, in an attempt to avoid icy roads, so I may be a bit later.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

If your coming over the hill, remember there are spots that don’t get any sun and will likely still be wet! Watch for ice!!

^This…I survived something I probably shouldn’t have 5 years ago due to black ice on highway 26. If you don’t have the right car/tires, don’t go! I should also add to check the forecasts and use https://tripcheck.com/ to check road conditions. It’s not the best resource but it’s better than nothing.

Ended up not being able to make Thur or Fri. Argggh. Hopefully some great reports. Only saving grace is keeping a vacation day for that first sunny spring day on a flat ocean. Have fun out there and get some pics of the carnage.

Any thoughts on current forecast anyone?
Not nearly as nice as it was.
Bigger primary in the morning, that does lay down later, but the secondary really increases around the same time.
Swell is smaller Fri, but winds much faster.
Between iffy forecast and possibly icy roads, I may have to pass.
Frustrating.....
Might try for an early springer on the Willy around Portland Fri...
Not sure of conditions on the Columbia, but would be stoked to try for walleye, if anyone else is so inclined.

Is anyone just hitting Newport Thur or Fri?
I'm guessing conditions should be ok inside the jetties.
Herring, crab, rockfish?

Not going to make it this time for reasons other than the forecast. Next time.

I was in Newport for a family trip the past two days. Driving back by depoe today and wished I had my kayak. Ocean looked flatter than the forcast made it seem. Waves were barely lapping at Fogarty. Wind was potentially the only iffy thing but wasn’t too bad. Roads were dry over 18

Ocean is flat and slow, the surf might be 3 feet, air is cold, sky is cloudy, west horizon is brighter than here … in Lincoln Beach

Got a reprieve and wondering if I should hit it tomorrow, or Yaq for herring, crab, et al, or both.
