Hey All,
I bought a slightly used, PowerPro spooled 6500 C4 a while back and tried to learn the right hand retrieve thing. I'm getting better but all my other reels are leftys so I'm looking to trade. I LOVE casting with this reel. It blows away the two C3 versions I have.

So I'm looking for an even trade, for a 6501 C4, spooled or not.

Any interest?

Jay

I don't have a 6501, but do you see anything on the lists of things I have for sale that you'd like to trade for?  While cleaning out my garage recently, I discovered that I'm missing my beloved 6500 mounted to my GLoomis 1021C.  I'm guessing I left it at a launch at some point, but have no idea.   >:(

Allen,
All that gear sounds great but I don't have the WAF or real need for any other gear at this point. I'm sorry to hear about that rod/reel combo. I'm still new to fishing but I do have a fly rod/reel combo I use for steelhead that I'd be really bummed about losing.

Yeah, I'm super bummed about this.  I bought that combo in 1996 and it is the rod that I most often reach for.  I keep hoping it pops up somewhere around here.

btw, if this reel gets away to someone else before you <general membership> can get your hands on it,,, check bass pro shops.. search by "round bait casters'..it's the only site i've found with reasonable pricing.. i've got one as part of a new combo and it's a great casting machine [ been hitting targets in the back yard at 130 feet!!]

I know what you mean about the used to leftys and use a righty... I got a 6500 c4 as well and what I do is just cast with my left and retrive with my right (the old hand switch after cast)... felt a little weird at first but got used to it, played around with the notion of trying to learn to cast right handed but it feels WAY to weird...

funny that... i'm very right handed.. so, i use the right to cast and the left to retrieve.. guess which side i prefer my handles on???

have always thought it odd that you had to switch hands after casting [ the two gun shuffle we called it when i trained at thunder ranch]

why the makers don't wise up and produce more left sided models is beyond me... maybe they think lefties only need spinning reels ??

ditto.. I only use left hand cranks.. I have a couple hold outs left but when they give up the ghost I will replace them with lefties. It makes so much more sense (if you are a righty) to hold the rod with your strong side and crank with the other.

I just can't do it.  I can't real conventional reels with my left hand.
