I am heading to Portland tomorrow in search of the gear needed to get out on the water.  Is there any place that you guys would suggest for kayak fishing gear?  (wetsuit, scotty mounts, rods and reels, tackle)  Thanks.

If you are in Astoria you can get all the tackle you would need at Englund Marine.  Don't know about a wetsuit but they are a commercial rigging store that also sells to the public so you never know.  If they don't have it for marine (bottomfish etc) /salmon stuff you don't need it. They have a new store near the waterfront about a 1/2 mile west of the megler bridge.

Fisherman's Marine & Outdoor is good for the fishing gear in the Portland area.  And for wetsuits, gloves, etc. check out Next Adventure.  They have new stuff upstairs and tons of good used gear in the basement.

Seaside Surf Shop and Cleanline in Seaside both have a good selection of both new and used wetsuits.  The surf suits are easy to paddle in but not great for diving.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
