I was thinking about going to Pacific City tomorrow July 10th. I’ve been out a few times and had good success.

I went out a couple weeks ago when the conditions were looking good (at least I thought so), and it was completely different from previous 2-3ft wave conditions I’ve been out in before. I took a friend for his first time and we got thrashed about in huge choppy swells with a good yard sale at the beach to start.

Just wanted an opinion on conditions before I dragged my friend back out there for another shot at it. Looking to troll for salmon and then do some bottom fishing after.

Current conditions look like 2.5 ft coming from SW. then click for more info:

Swell 1 3.5 ft NWN period 8s
Swell 2 2.5ft SW period 15s

Wind looks below 8mph all day and less than 5mph in morning.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Fri looks pretty good to me, I would probably try and go if I didn't have to work.  I'm looking to go Sat morning.

I think NOAA has the swell at 4 to 5 ft both fri and sat.

I think it's doable, but launch n landing may be a bit sporty, just my opinion
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

You can get a live shot of the beach via the Pelican Brewing webcam. Check out the webcam, then compare it to the surf forecasts to see what it really looks like.

Thanks for all the replies. The beach cam is smart. Forgot about that.

Looking at the cam and current conditions. They match tomorrow morning and the video conditions look great skill probably go give it a try.

Thanks again for all the advice!

Not sure how PC was, but Depoe was decent. Mostly wanted some salmon, and Daniel n I both succeeded in getting our coho limits pretty easily. Didn't get any wilds, but 4 nice 27" hatchery fish. I released 10 lings, all but 2 were legal, but the others weren't very impressive size. Caught 10 decent blacks, kept the 2 biggest, and released 2 fairly large greenling. Conditions were great apart from some thick fog at times, but even that wasn't terrible, kept the heat at bay. Daniel kept a limit of chunky blacks, and a limit of lings, two of which were close to 30". All in all, pretty happy with the day.
