I don't believe they're really used for much more than bait... a rockfish may be too much.

Yeah, I have one. I used to work for the guy that patented them so I used to make them. I can tell ya that a spine on a fish will not go through those things. It's made with VERY durable material. Since I don't get much use out of it in Oregon, I use it to stash my gear, which includes loose jigs and pliers and crap and I still have yet to poke a hole in mine. Plus, if you ever get a hole in it, it's a quick fix with Marine Goop. That's what we actually used to glue them together. Let me know if you have any other questions about them.
