I had thought about fishing Friday.  It's a keeper day for salmon and sturgeon on the Willamette.  Not sure what the water conditions are like but I think the weather should be decent.  What did you have in mind?

The launch at Cathedral Park under the St Johns Bridge is a good spot.  I'm not familier with the lower channel yet, but am open to trying it.  Either way some fishing sounds good.

I could join you all after work, especially if you end up on the Willamette close to downtown.

I work right at the 5 fwy and Lombard so I'm pretty much close to any spot........ I don't have an anchor system yet.....FYI but am more than willing to rig something up if needed......This will be my first real fishing trip!! :blob6: :color:......................I run a domestic violence shelter and this week has been insane so I really can use this!!!! :BangHead:

If you can't anchor up trolling for springers is an option.  Using the boat launch at Cathedral Park was easy and when we were there the current was minimal so it made for a nice trip on the water.  Maybe we can talk steelheadr into coming downriver a bit.

I've never been to Cathedral Park but the launching options near downtown I've used include Hawthorne St (possible fee for parking), Oaks Bottom Park (free parking), and Willamette Park (no fee this time of year I believe). I'm willing to travel a bit but I work until about 5pm. Trying to maximize time on the water...With a limited time available after work, I'd prefer to get a paddle in while looking for springers.

If I understand the tides correctly, the Willamette will have an outgoing tide from 7:30 am until about 4:20 pm on Friday.  As of now I think I'll launch from Cathedral Park around 2:30 and look for a spot downriver to anchor up, then see if there's enough current to work a diver and kwikfish for salmon.  If that don't work there's bait fishing for sturgeon and once the tide changes the paddle back will be easier.  I should be good for 3 - 4 hours of fishing, and am always open to suggestion, but that's my plan for now.  Come on down.

May have garnered a short day pass. Where are you launching and what time?

Wali, sorry left puter on had a meeting this morning!  Thinking of launching from marina just above sauvie island bridge!!! Instead of trying to fight my way down to my hole ill just paddle up instead!!   Going to try to hit it about 230.............Friend said it was insane with everyone out there this morning and everyone trolling all over that area........ Lots of extra peoples out with the Scappoose Derby tomorrow!
