I just had to share this. Not sure what the LMB record is but kayak basser from the Cali. delta "Hobie Blue" has gotta be right there. 9# 12 ounces. And to even one up HB's bad-assedness, he caught the same fish twice!! :notworthy:

The LMB record is over 22 pounds. Can't remember the ounces at the moment. That's a sweet Yak bass!!

More info on the overall LMB record..

The record LMB (22 lbs 4 oz) was caught ~75 years ago in GA by George Perry and I don't believe he was in a kayak at the time.

An even larger bass (25 lbs 1 oz) was foul hooked in southern CA a few years ago.  The foul hooking caused the record to be declined.

Actually, if I recall correctly, the guy who caught it, being an ethical dude, didn't attempt to have it recognized as a record. He did have it weighed at the dock, and then he released her. I can't remember whether it was Lake Skinner or Dixon, but I know it was one of those two SD county lakes. Guess I should Google it to get my facts straight...

That's refreshing to hear.

I don't think anyone is keeping track of kayak fishing records.  IGFA doesn't care if you are in a boat or not for their records, let alone a kayak.

The Kayak4Fish.com has a subforum on the subject, but I haven't seen any bass entries.

Until I see something bigger, this 9lb 12oz fish is it in my book.

My recollection was almost right. According to this article, they were ethical in reporting that the bass had been foul hooked. And they did weigh and release the beast. But since they didn't intentionally snag the fish, they hoped it would be recognized as a record by the IGFA. This is a pretty good article about it - http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/outdoors/20060321-9999-1s21bass.html
