ok, my german skills are next to nil... the local show is Heute Gibt's Fisch, the club is fish n fun, and it's on dmax tv over here.. so far they've pulled pike, musky perch and carp out of rivers all over germany..rivers that in our area would probably qualify for superfund sites...but they've als went to rivers that are fairly clean and have pretty much escaped industrialization...

one of the kickers is that htey have an on show chef who teaches you  how to prepare shore lunches....

it's actually a hoot to watch..

this is as close to the site as i've been. it's a online forum just like ifish or ours... http://www.fischinfos.de/forum/fish-n-fun---neue-folgen-auf-dmax-t2143-s15.html

hope your language skills are up to it.. mine arent

if i find a german version of nwka , or of this forum, i''ll post it here...

meantime , have fun

Richard, if you have and use the Google toolbar in your browser you can automatically translate the page from German to English.

I use Yahoo Babelfish whenever I have to translate websites. I like that it translates as you navigate the site. I'm sure it functions nearly the same way as the Google toolbar.  I used it at work because they wouldn't allow 3rd party software installed in web browsers. This got around that restriction.

still digging thru stuff over here. hotel staff very kindly attempting to find a "kajak anglenenicher" club. plenty of kyak clubs, a few fishing clubs, but don't seem to be a kayak fishing club anywhere's near amberg.

i find one , i'll post a link.

You probably won't find a Kayak Fishing Club near Amberg...

But, you will find some awesome fishing...  Ask me how I know, sometime.

Where are you staying, inside the old city walls?

I spent two months there in 1997, at a gast house / Brewery just inside the north wall of the city...Near the Bahnhof gate.

I recommend you look into a fishing trip into the Czech Republic while there...  They have some streams that were not fished in over 50 years prior to 1992...  Nice Trout in them.

thanx.
actually, i'm just up the street and right outside the old city walls from that place, at the tulip inn ( old MERKUR ), which is next to the kurfurstenbad and congresszentrum... remember those?? the main fuerwehr is right across the parking lot. bahnhof is about 2 blocks away.

yeh, not gonna find a lot of fishing here now, it seems. and yak fishing?? forget it. the locals who have been helping me look have all been pretty much stymied by the puzzled looks and responses they get when making inquiries for me.

wish i had better contacts, the possibilities for opening up new frontiers on this are way out at the end of the  "endless" scale

forgot about the Czech Republic and it's fishing.. Praha is , what? 3 hours away?? I see signs on routes 299 and 85 every morning when driving over to Rose Barracks reminding me how close i am.. used to be, i was watching for 1K Zone warning signs... that tell you how far back in time it's been?? [ if you know what year the wall came down, subtract another 10 and you'll be in the ballpark]

anyways, i'm gonna keep looking.

ja! genug damme!!. learne oder heit der kloppe.

YoTF, veliech im privat ist besser, genau?

anyway, i'm soon gonna post up a few pics to see if they draw any memories for you.

the chinese buffet just inside nauberger strasse is getting ready to close, he told me he'd been there 16 years, and had never before only had one diner for an evenings dinner time... ..Kate's Irish pub is still rolling along, Schloderer Brau still there, but  everything is slllooooww business wise.. heck 3/4 of amberg is looking like downtown detroit was a few years ago.. all boarded up and unoccupied.. economy here is sliding towards the big flush too.

remember the big church on the hill?? i'll see if i can catch it totally lit up again this week. awsome sight. big ol festival going on there.. traditonal coustume and all that..

Kate's always had good music....    Never ate at the Chinese place....  Didn't drink bier either, so never visited the brewery....

As for that church, yes it is very impressive...  All white....

Tell you what, Amberg is not the only German town regretting chasing American Military from their country....

It just has the misfortune of being so far out in the country, that no one wants to live there.

yeh have heard that too. since rose barracks in vilseck has gotten so built up, the milcom has taken to putting E6 & above up in amberg quarters. see a few in uniform during the weeknights, but more in civvies during weekends..

thanx again for the information on the local fisheries.. it helped tons in narrowing my search.. i might have a chance now to actually wet a line. will know more by thrusday.

regarding the local t v show that started all this, Auwa Theilmann is the host of the show, guy is like the german gonzo equivalant of Jim Sammons,  Fish'N'Fun is the new name of the show, and it's on DMAX, www.dmax.de in case you're interested.
