On another note , they had some flat wedge shaped lead heads at Basin Tackle that were real rock friendly. haven't seen them there for a while but they are nice, a little more spendy but come back to the boat more often.

Trying to get Dan to pour more of those.  like a Shad head.  Agree they are way more drift friendly !! Maybe take a hammer to the round ones i have ?

... I've already played with the idea of getting a lead pot and a few molds, but don't like the idea of playing around with lead that much and having it around the house.

Most lead exposure is inhalation and ingestion.  Inhalation occurs from dust (drilling, filing) and ingestion occurs by getting it on your hands then sucking a thumb or in some way transferring to the mouth.  Simply melting in a typical lead pot in a well ventilated area is very safe.  At your next blood test you can request a "lead test".  If you shoot a lot of firearms, particularly pistols, a lead test is a good idea as the primers aerosolize the lead styphnate.
