There is obviously a need for this reel as it is available through Bass Pro Shops,
b..b..b.. but.... but  :o  $3K!

Who buys this stuff, and what are they using it for?

I always wonder the same thing when I see those beautiful Van Staal spinning reels.  I'd kill for one of those, although I'd be too damn scared to actually take it on the water.

It's a Daiwa electric motor powered reel that's aimed at the "enthusiast" market in Japan. I guess it means rich guys who like to one up each other with the most tech gear. Sure there's some reason for why it's so much but sure I'll never understand.

Van Staal's are made to be drug through the sand. I don't think I'd like to even get that Diawa wet.
