I'm headed to Nehalem 5/3-5 to meet up with the Grandparents and get the girlfriends new boat in the ocean.

Is it worth fishing for springers and where? What about lings etc in that area. Any suggestions are appreciated, and anyone who wants to meet us on the water for yaksurfing or yakfishing is welcome.

It's a little early for costal springers but if the ocean lays down, I might hook up with you for some bottom fish.

Bout a month or so to early, give or take a week or so.  I have caught a few tilla bay springers in late May early June trolling herring in the bay.  If I were you I would focus on the salt for bottomfish, your catch rate to time spent on the water will be MUCH better.

You mean less than 240 hours per fish (lost)? Man I SHOULD try that.

I'm seeing 15-20ft swell and 20-30mph winds for 5/3-5 on the coast. To big for fishing and surfing. If this doesn't change I'll probably put in at Roy Creek at the reach of tide, float down and catch & release cutties....or maybe go somewhere else.

This Friday however, looks very nice....4 ft at 13 seconds...what a nice long-boat surfing day this will be. Might head to Oceanside for a little surfy surf.
