My son Owen and I went clamming north of Seaside last weekend.  We didn't have any luck (unless you include finding some nice fresh ones at the fish market in Seaside on our way home.  Anyway, Owen really enjoyed the digging part, and I thought I'd share some photos.

Very cute B. At least Owen had a good time and you had some razor clams that night. Looks like there weren't many other people out there. Did anyone else have any luck?

no clams?  thats like walking into a public school classroom and not finding any gum under the desks ;D ;D..

Just giving you a hard time ;D..  digging razors are like hunting wild mushrooms.. once you know where to look you start finding them almost everywhere...

There were a ton of people out there clamming.  I still can't get used to the fact that the beach is basically a highway that everyone drives their trucks on.   Anyway, there were several people near us, but most folks drove their trucks down the beach a ways.  I didn't really notice anyone near us with clams.  I wasn't ready to do that with the Volvo.

I know what you mean. I had a hard time with it in Texas.

Actually I'm from Cali but spent about 6 months in Austin. I know, not really Texas. Went to Corpus Christi a bunch and dealt w/ the havoc surfing there.

Thanks FishSniffer,

Newport is a bit far, but if I combine some early morning clamming with a trip to the Aquarium it would make for a pretty exciting day trip.

You could do razors first, then a limit of bay clams, the the Aquarium and the Hatfield followed by a beer with me at the Rogue!

I'll bet Owen would be ready for a nap after that cold beer.   ;D

Yeah a nap in there somewhere might be in order (for both of us), but otherwise I like the way you think.  Mother's Day isn't an option for me, but maybe later in May.

I like the nap thing too!

I think the 23rd will be the day I might go.  Pretty early though.
