I pillaged these pics from a fellow truck camper owner friend of mine.  He happened to take pics of the surf zone at Sand Lake to the cape this past weekend, and also the "End of the Road" sign for OHV heading North.  I think parking near this sign and pulling the kayak down the beach would be a workout yes, but not a killer. May be worth the fishing!

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing.

It looks like about 2 miles from Sand Lake to the South wall (according to Google Maps).  I just don't know where the actual cut off is in relation to Sand Lake.

I often use my mountain bike to ride out to the south jetty to fish Tillamook bay (45 min plus one way).  I wonder how hard it would be to tow your yak behind a bike (on a cart of course ;D) from the sandlake  parking lot straight west to the hard sand, and then ride the hard sand north out to the cape.  Hardest part would be from the car to the hard sand (but that looks fairly short). After that it would be a fairly quick peddle down the beach (at least faster and easier than walking it).  I think my monster yak cart would be perfect for this.. Next time I am at the coast I may test this out without the yak just to see if it is workable. I have a hunch this might be my ticket to that fishery

Yup the hardest part is getting from the parking lot to the beach.  There is some really soft sand, and an incline and then decline where it dumps out onto the beach.  The mountain bike thing may work on the beach part, but from the lot to the beach in either direction would be next to impossible without towing a kayak.  It requires air'd down 4wd, atv, or a buggy to get through this soft sand bump.  Now, driving down to the sign and riding from there may very well be the ticket!  Just gotta hope you don't have a high tide that puts you on the dry sand on the way down or back.
