Found this picture while browsing tonight.

Check out the twist on hatch within the rod pod cover.  I wonder if adding one of these to both ends of the pod, would stiffen it up a bit?

8 rod holders!! WOW, that's about $280!

Pole was showin me the hatch on the RP and I think it's gonna take more than just some reinforcing. The material the hatch cover is made of isn't rigid enough to keep surf out. The lip also barely covers the edge. If you could make a replacement of fiberglass or carbon fiber w/ a good lip on it I may work.

As far as I know WA State fishing regulations limit an angler to one active rod at a time.  Is this correct?  Is this for inland waters only, so for the open ocean multiple rods are okay?

so far as i can remember, you can only fish multiples for tuna here in OR.  but that doesn't mean you can't take your whole arsenal with you.  makes it easy if you run multiple lures... no retying necessary

So the rod holders are mostly for rigged rod stowage, much like the strap downs on Basscar boats.

...and in interest of keeping things symmetrical, you know there are two more launchers that were cut out of the pic...

I have not seen the new Tridents but... would adding some soft foam or rubber coping around the RP hatch help keep out the water?
It seems to work very well on my P-13.

who said the guy was in wa or even oregon?

on that note most states allow the use of more than one rod at a time....but either way that looks dangerous to say the least lol....could you imagine trolling 10 rods that are leashed to the yak and then tipping over...lol...hell getting in with no rods on the boat would be difficult

It seems to work very well on my P-13.

The thread on T13A shortcomings has a few photos that include some soft foam weather stripping placed between the RP lid seal and the RP lid underside.  I think soft foam on the lip of the RP opening would get ripped up pretty fast.  However, wide soft foam covering the top and OUTSIDE of the RP lip might work very well to seal the hatch.  My opinion is that the RP lid is too flimsy and too wide/long to seal properly.  It should be about 1/2" shorter and 1/2" narrower and twice as stout with small molded ribs on the underside, but not extending under the seal.  One rib running the long ways, and two equally spaced running perpendicular.  It could all be done with a mold adjustment.

Today I will finish my RP lid mods as described in the T13A Shortcomings thread.

I like that seat. I have the same one and have paddled 8+ hours on it many times. No sore butt at all...but then again, I'm used to sitting on a bicycle saddle that long as well.  ;)

I guess I shouldn't say crappy because it's actually well made. It's just uncomfortable in my opinion. I have the GTS Elite and it's a dream!

I have the same seat and so far my butt seems fine even after 6 hours.  I like the back support.
