Today My Buddy and I hit Prineville Reservoir with the kayaks.  I packed a light lunch and put my 4 yr. old on the front and my 7 yr. old on the back.  We paddled in a very light wind and soaked in the 80' degree temperature.  We put in at Powderhouse Cove and just went directly across to a nice cove.

I unleashed my two daughters on a large pod of schooling brown bullheads.  We caught a few smallmouth, nothing big.  One largemouth came skulking into the cove but was not interested in what we were throwing.  The school of catfish were obviously stricken with lovesickness, and made easy targets for the girls.

We took a short hike and saw; one frog, a young cottontail, a fence lizard (blue belly), and one cicada.  My youngest made out like a bandit picking little high desert wildflowers.  I was impressed to see Indian Paintbrush that low.

After we got home I breaded and fried a mess of the bullhead catfish, and like crappie...it takes a lot of them but worth the effort.  It was a great day out on the lake.

I need to get my boy into some fish.  He keeps asking me to take him, but we have only had time to fish from the shore of some local ponds.  He hasn't caught anything yet, but he is determined.
