Headed out this morning solo in pursuit of Dino's.  On the water by about 7:30 and fishing shortly there after.  Slow day, anchored up and threw every piece of bait that I had at 'em and still nothing.  Saw the boat next to me release an oversize and then land a legal keeper a few minutes later.  I thought for sure I'd be into some fish but still nothing.  I did manage my three biggest flounder to date.  Each one of them suprised the hell out of me, real good fighters all the way to the boat.  They where all in the 19" range and of the Starry type I believe.  I'll have to do it all over again next weekend.... I'm going to get a Dino!

Nice haul!  They may not be dinos but at least you didn't get skunked.  :)

Quality fish!...  Gators are a dime a dozen.. Finding a spot to catch some nice flounder like those is something to hang you hat on.  Those eat great!   Short of the mouth of the Columbia near Astoria, flounder of that size are hard to come by down here.  Sad thing is I guess they used to be fairly commen in all the bays ???

Dino fishing is a tough one and know anglers who swore it off to the end after so many fruitless attempts and miles on the road. A good way to look at it is meditation. Focus on the moment at hand. You gotta look at it some positive way or else you'll end up ripping someone's head off after another day of sitting motionless for nada. Yeah, I've been there. ;D

Are you using a heavy jig and bait or a sliding weight and leader?

What are you using for bait?

My sentiments exactly!

Nice job on those flounder! I haven't seen any that size in years.

Regarding sturgeon, it sounds like you've got the right attitude to make it happen!

Those are some REALLY nice flatty's and great markings!! I didn't know they got that big! :o
I thought they were all <1 lb until you got to Hali's. What exactly are they (B? Zee?)

??? You guys are fishing in the wrong places. Sturgeon are the only kind of fish that I'd expect to catch most of the time when I targeted them in Oregon. They may not be the right size (under or over), but you could usually get them to stretch your line.
Guess we were spoiled ;D
