Very excited to find this forum using a Google search!  Just at the beginning stages of purchasing a kayak, actually purchasing two so the wife can join me.  I've been fishing from a float tube for 6 years now and want some expanded options.  I am still a bit hesitant on fishing from a sit on top, but that seems to be what works for people.

I'm in Vancouver, WA and have only done freshwater fishing in small lakes around here and in the Gorge area.  I saw a segment on NW Backroads the other night on a couple at the Oregon coast kayak fishing and I have been pretty much hooked since then.

I'm going to try to make the Alder Creek demo at Vancouver Lake on the 28th.  Does anyone know if they will be demoing the Ocean Kayak Prowlers?  I'm leaning towards the 13 maybe the 15, but not sure I need / want the extra length.  I would like to try them out first before buying.

Also, does anyone know if the Ferndale plant will let you try out before you buy?

Any other Vancouver people on the board?  Any suggestions on freshwater or saltwater spots not far (within 1-2 hours drive) from Vancouver, WA?

Welcome bluknight!!!

Seems like more and more people from OR are popping up there days.

Regarding the Alder Creek demo, you should be able to try any Ocean Kayak available.  They will all be there.

Here is the event schedule ... Event Schedule.  I'll be speaking at 11AM and 3PM so come say hello.  The topic is Kayak Fishing of course.

Welcome to the board, Bluknight!

Looking forward to hearing your reports, and hopefully, meeting some day.

If you search, you should be able to find some ideas on launch possibilities, on the coast, in OR. Got to run!
