I've just been notified that I need to take the week of July 6th off from work....  What better opportunity to go explore!

I've got a couple of escapes in mind but Sombrio is at the top of the list right now.

Anybody have some good information on camping/fishing/gear/license requirements for the area?

Anybody interested in tagging along between ~7/8 thru ~7/12?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that all BC fish count toward the AOTY.

You camp on the beach.  It's about 1/2 mile hike down ... tow your yak on a cart.  You probably need to make 2-3 trips as you can't overload the yak.  There are a couple spots, like a tight turn on a board walk, where having 2 people is better.

Fishing.  You'll figure it out.  You don't really need to go further than the edge of the kelp bed out front.

If there is a good swell coming through in the right direction, bring your surfboard.

Thanks Allen,  so... ummmm.... What do those fat cabs hit on?  And, where do the Butts hang out?

A small motor oil rubber worm with a skirt on it.  Kind of like a TJW.  These cabbies are crab eating ... so think creepy crawler.  Hop the thing with small jigstrokes.

Wrong time of year for butts.  They've probably outmigrated.  But if you want to try, you can see on the nautical charts a shelf extending out from the beach.  Perhaps a mile out is 120 feet of water.  Start there.  We never really tried for salmon around there either, but in July there should be some ocean runs starting to trickle through.

Sounds great but I'll have to settle for web updates each day... ;D

I think you'll have to settle for a wrap up report when I get back.  I'd be surprised if one could get cell service there much less internet.

Very interested but not sure I can work it.....  :-[

Did you see the size of the cabs P-Daddy was pulling out of there?  Is there really any question?   Besides, Sombrio and Jordan River (Just down the road) are world renowned surf spots >:D

I know, I REALLY want to make it but WAF is very dwindled down. Will have to work very hard and pray to get enough to make that trip... Could pull off some chinook fishing at some of my local spots if you stopped by here though.  ;)
