Howdy - yet another new guy

Howdy folks,

I'm a semi-regular fisherman in the Portland area, soon to be the owner (I hope) of either a Hobie Mirage Outback or a Hobie Mirage Revolution.  Or maybe both.  My wife has been wanting to trade in our canoe for a pair of kayaks.

I grew up fishing in the Southeastern US for largemouth bass, spent some time fishing the Potomac and nearby lakes for smallmouth when I lived in Maryland, then moved out here.  Over the last few years I've mostly fly-fished for trout in rivers like the Deschutes, but I'd like to expand my horizons a bit.  Fly fish lakes like Upper Klamath, East Lake, and Davis, but also try my hand at kayak fishing the WIllamette, Multnomah Channel, and coastal rivers for salmon.  I'd also like to do some crabbing.  Plus my usual exercise routine of running or biking in the rain is getting a bit old.  If I have to be outside getting wet, I might as well be fishing.

I've also done a bit of whitewater rafting and fishing various whitewater rivers around OR.  If folks are ever looking for advice, I'm happy to share what I've learned.  Posted some thoughts on the John Day already.

I joined the site a couple days ago as I started researching a kayak purchase a bit more.  I really like the Hobie's for hands-free fishing (canoe experience tells me paddling to hold position and casting at the same time with a fly rod is not the best idea in the world).  My kayak paddling experience is somewhat limited, though.  Once I have a boat, I'd love to hook up with some of you guys to learn the ropes!
