My Humminbird straight swap transducer for the T13 arrived today.  The instructions leave out one important bit of information for the completely naive' like me.  Which end of the puck is forward?  :-)   It is shaped like a teardrop or egg.  Should the fat end or the skinny end point forward?

On second thought, I don't think it matters.  The transducer is just an emitter and does not know front from back.  If so, why is the transducer shaped like a teardrop and not an oval or circle?

Not that it matters, but fat end forward (I'd guess).  Teardrop shape is most likely to cut down on turbulence if it is mounted off the transom of a boat - cavitation and all that stuff.

Because I think that's the intended directions for the same reasons Madoc states.  But yes, I don't think it matters at the end of the day.  My FF works equally well paddling forward as it does paddling backwards.

Hmm,  most of the fish finders I have came with transom transducers.  They are designed to hang of the back of a boat from the pointy end  (i.e pointy end forward).

Other than that, I don't think it really matters unless you have 3d or side scan capabilities.

It only matters in a boat because of the speed. The tear dropp cut through the water easer
