I'm looking for a good local catfishing spot, anyone want to share??  I had some good spots on or near whidbey where I grew up but I know of nothing where I'm living now.  I'm sure that there are plenty of lakes that hold cats but I'm looking for some water that might have a good concentration of 'em.

I believe the Gissburg Ponds are juvenile only.  If you're wanting to hit up some cat''s let me know I love catfishing.

I've fished Gissburg's South pond before, not to impressed.  I'm thinking I had better try Lake Stevens first since it is my home lake.  Yar I'll let you know when I head out.... got any good smelly bait ideas?

Smelly is good, but spoiled not so much.  This is hearsay info, but, catfishermen in Louisiana say fresh bait is the best.  YMMV.

Chicken livers, ALPO (wet dog food), and even garlic/cheese hotdogs seem to work pretty well.  The first one is my personal favorite.  Catfish are easiest to lure by scent, but I've seen them caught on crankbaits.

Demonick's right:

Stink = good
Rotten = bad.
