Hello Group,
I am somewhat new to the Kayak world, in fact, sometimes I can't even spell it. I am an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast (free time permitting). I have two jet selds and also a Mokai (Jet Kayak). Don't throw rocks at me yet, there is a method to my madness. I live on the Tualatin River, and have always wanted to launch in the back yard. After tearing the bottom out of a Zodiak, and realizing I still can't run the river at low levels in my 14' sled, the Mokai seemed like a good way to go. Once in the river I am only a few seconds until I am on the Willamette, in some real good Bass water (and Salmon when the seasons right).
I so far have enjoyed ownership, and now am going to start working on making it a "Fishing Machine."
I see lots of great stuff on this site. I hope to learn, share, and hopefully meet a few members.
My first few projects will be installing a bilge pump, a Fishfinder, downriggers, and who knows what from there.
Here are a few pictures from an earlier run.

Ready to launch (obviously in  the Fall)

Running some smooth water

Running under logs

Running through brush

That's a long enough 1st Post!
Tell next post.

It may have motor, but that could be some serious fun.  I'm not that familiar with the Mokai- are you able to start and stop the motor from the "cockpit" or is it a pull start?

It has a pull start and kill button that can both be operated while sitting in the cockpit. It's a 6 hp Honda, so it usually fires with the first pull.
The engine and fuel tank are easily removable, with quick disconnect throttle, choke and pull cords.
Spent all last night checking out this site...there are some intense folks here!
Sweet!

Looks like fun.  The Mokai was on my short list before I pulled the trigger on my Hobie.  are you able to paddle it?

Yes I do paddle it to. The jet works great fror going forwar, but doesn't have a reverse.
I have not rowed any other Kayak so I don't have anything to cpmpare it to. I would imagine its a bit slugish to paddle compared to some of the other modles I see out there. What I reallly like is to run a set of rapids, for instance from the mouth of the Willamette to the low head dam on the Tualatin, and then paddle downstream.
