Man! Your "beginners" have some serious faith in you (and some large stones) with waves breaking over the point like that!

BTW: If you liked the way the Scrambler XT handled, you'd love what the OK Malibu II does. I've seen that boat wail! (just not with me on it ::) )

BTWW: Were you able to get them fishing as well?

The Scrambler and Scrambler XT are the boats my wife and I learned to kayak surf in SoCal with. Unfortunately, we sold them before moving up to Oregon...   >:(

We did not fish, it was actually fairly limited with just 6 hours to teach how to drive a boat in surf. Was more about learning how to safely navigate the surf zone from a fisherman's perspective.

It was relatively safe the way the rips were working. If you dumped, you were swept down the beach into the mouth and calmer water. Every single person dumped including me and the other instructor and it was smooth and easy to keep it organized and safe.

Dang Jason, that looks like a lot of fun! That's a nice little spot too. I've been there when the surf was up and too big to make it out to the rocks, but I had a great time just playing around in the smaller surf where you guys are pictured. I really want to make it out there on a smaller day because I'm sure there is some good rockfishin' out there.
Nice pics!

You guys just email me when your ready. Right now it's hard for us to do them on weekends when it's busy in the shop. Weekdays are better.

How about a class the Friday before the Oregon derby?  I'm guessing there would be a lot of interest.

Should do a "two parter",  surf skills and a fishing technique class (rockfish/lings).   I have a few tips and tricks I would be happy to share, I'm sure others have beneficial input too.

Maybe do the how to on Sunday following the tourney. I realize that won't help those that may need it most, but it could be done on the water Sunday morning. This would give people time to still get home at a reasonable time.

I'd like to observe the fishing technique part for my personal interest.

Not to be a dork, but when is the derby?

there was a PB trolling for salmon along the head. Not sure if there's much salmon action there now, but in the fall it goes off!

Jason........................... the Derby is the 12th of Sept..

If we have enough people showing up on friday morning to set up we could do a Friday Morning/afternoon before we pig out on the good Indian Food.
