Best and safest would be for everyone to steer clear of the ocean in September  and continue working out the intricacies of how to pee while out on their yak ;D

I've already gotten the pee thing worked out.  All I need now is some shark following my scent trail up to the port side of my boat.

reading the Depoe Bay post on ifish, it looks like the shark got tangled in the crab pot lines and was dead when they hauled it up.

I gotta say, they are beautiful and all of that, but I'm not sure how I would feel about their beauty if they were right up next to me.

I think I am going to paint "I am not a seal nor a sea lion!" on the bottom of my kayak - that way the english reading sharks will think twice about bothering my boat.

Paint large eyes on the bottom of your kayak nothing likes it's potential meal staring at it with large angry eyes. Supposedly there is some truth to this as well since the shark is not stupid it doesn't want to be hurt when it feeds/attacks.  They are generally ambush predators. With the eyes giving the appearance that the prey is watching, even standing it's ground and ready to fight.  Might be just enough deterrent to drive a shark off or make it think twice about tasting you.  I've heard of quite a few surfers using this technique but i don't science has tested it all that much.

Hell I'm out of the loop somebody has started putting similar theories to the test and are selling products.

I've seen them both in feeding mode and cruising mode.
Feeding mode will wring your colon like a super sponge.
Cruising mode really reinforces what a beautiful work of art they are.

Too bad you never know which you're looking at until it's too late.  Lol!   >:D

CALM DOWN! I had the privilege of living in Depoe Bay one summer, oh...what a summer.  It was in 89, and I lived at the firehouse just on the south side of the bridge.  I was told the same thing about sharks coming in after salmon, and at night you can see the sharks cruise in and out of the enterance to the marina.  I only saw one shark that summer, what a beaut.  She  drove a red Corvette too.  Oh, and GW sharks only like the colors yellow, mango orange, green, blue, etc.

The dudes dtory seemed pretty fishy to me all along and it looks like he'll be cited for taking the shark - confirmed as a Great White.

And I thought my surfing neighbors in Seaside had too much to drink on Saturday night. They really must have seen a porpoise being ripped apart by whitey.

I've been told that the colors red and yellow attract sharks. I learned that while surfing on my red and yellow surfboard in shark infested waters in Mexico.
During that trip; we saw shark fins between where we were sitting in the lineup and the beach. That was a little uncomfortable.
