I'm still searching for the right dry suit for myself and stumbled across this one. Any reviews of this particular suit?

In general, for quick immersions in the drink, a neoprene neck gasket is sufficient to keep water out, correct?

What makes a suit a "dry suit" versus a "semi-dry suit?" Is it just the neck gasket being neoprene versus latex?

This suit has a relief zipper, which is a big plus.

What about booties, what do you guys like in a booty?

OK, so the last question could go in a couple of different directions.

Found this suit for $299. Worth picking up?

Ahhhh, let's see, in order from top to bottom.

yes

;D

Ok, attached booty vs. detached or changeable booty.
Variety is the spice of life. <sorry>
I like the detached booty/  latex sealed ankles on the dry suit as its somewhat simpler and less likely to leak. Then its a matter of wearing neoprene socks and a dive booty or wading shoes. The feet are what seems to leak first on my waders and the latex seal on my dry suit has never given me a problem.
I believe Palm is a British company and makes a lot of dinghy suits. That sounds like a good buy to me and I'm guessing your at Andy and Bax as that's the only place I have seen them.

If you are, then its worth going upstairs and get the expedition weight surplus polypro undies for <$20 per piece. Those with a pair of sweats under your drysuit are all you need for comfortably swimming in the surf at PC.  And you should check to see if they have any of the OS systems bunny suit seconds. Those are a steal for $80 but may be a bit heavy for the Oregon coast.

No worries my friend.  Fishing here sucks this time of year.   ::)

What FFTW said.  I'll add whether the dry suit has attached booties or not get separate booties with stout soles.  You want the booties to wear out not the dry suit.  I've been happy with the NRS Cross 4 booties I use.

I like the drysuits w/ the booties. I've had them for a while and no wear to speak of. If you take care of them I don't think it'll be an issue. They keep you supremely warm in weather all the way down to snowy and 30. The coldest temp. I was out in last year. I can't say for bootie-less version in those temps but with my bootieless dry suit my feet start to get cold in the 50's. IMO if you want something that's gonna work year round go w/ the bootie foot and take care of them.

OK guys, actually found it at the REI OUTLET online. Regular price $499, on sale for $299. There are still lots of sizes available, but no telling how many of each. It's suppsed to be here on the 3rd. Report to follow.

Its always nicer to have it in hand, but if it does not have any gaping holes in it, that is a steal! Andy and Bax is still the place for underwear. Don't forget, drysuits have no insulating value! You'll be dry, but you'll be frozen soild. :o

p.s. - reioutlet.com is all new with tags gear. It's overstocks or last season models for the most part. I'm pretty excited about the suit. Can't wait to try it out.

Got it in the mail yesterday. It fits well, doesn't breathe, looks cool and hopefully will keep me dry. I can't wait to try it out on the water this weekend.

It was a good day yesterday...got my dry suit in the mail, finally installed my rod holder and picked up my first tray of herring for the fall season! Nehalem, here I come.

You still have time to brine your herring.

Brining isn't necessary on the Nehalem - little known secret.

Cool you got it!
I went to the site to take a look but there is no picture. Can you post a few?
Thanks!

Wali
