It's been awhile since I posted.  I joined the motor powered brigade for fresh water fishing but still doing the kayak think for my salt trips.  I was down at Beverly Beach a few weekends back taking surfing lessons with the wife and decided I needed another trip.  Headed back down mid-September and wondering if there is any good hints on fishing techniques or how to get the darn kayak down the stairs?

Another question - I purchased an Oregon fishing license this year, but is there any special stamps or craziness I need to fish in the salt?  I'll check the regs as well (I need to do this to check on size limits etc anyway), but wanted to ask here as well.

Either way hoping to post some nice pictures when I return.

Welcome back. I think we can forgive a short stint with the PB club?

As far as a license goes, unless you are fishing for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon or halibut, I believe nothing extra is required in Oregon.

While not exactly fishing, crabbing and clamming require a special shellfish license in Oregon as well.

Here's the report from the trip that INSAYN and I did there earlier this year:

The stairs are KILLER! I was sore for a good three days after that trip. We just carried everything up and down. If you can figure out an easy way to get your gear up and down, or just pack really light, the fishing could be great because of all the structure out there.

Ya know, after that last walk we did at the "other" fishing hole, I'd say it would be a drop in the bucket to pull the kayaks up the beach from Beverly Beach SP campground and launch at Devil Punch Bowl.  Then if you decide to paddle south at any point to fish the other rocks out from Beverly Beach SP, you can could always beach it closer to where you parked in the first place.  Then it would only be a one way walk that day.

Pole Pole -

I sure would love to be there for the tournament but work calls for that weekend.  I'll check back for the results though!  Make sure you all leave a few behind for me to pester the next weekend!
