Alright so this not really a fishing report unfortunately but I figured maybe someone would learn from this information.  Headed down to Lincoln City with big hopes of acting out the OPB special with the lovely couple on the tandem kayak only by myself.  I checked the swell report and it showed 8' at 10 secs.  I really didn't know what that meant because it has been awhile.  Checked a few postings and got a good gut feeling that I should probably just leave the kayak at home.  Deep down inside I did not want that to true and hoped the report would change.  I loaded the OK big game up.

Got to Beverly Beach at 1030 am after renting a surfboard for my wife to play with while I fished.  Walked to look over Devil's Punch bowl and found that 8' at 10 secs is not kayaking time for me!

Spent four hours honing my surfing with the wife.  Never took the kayak off the truck.  Hoping for better luck next.  At least now I know what to expect and that the swell report will not likely change over night!

8 feet at 10 seconds sounds pretty rough.  So far the worst I have been out in (of the five or so trips) is 6@12ish.

At least you had some fun.

I think it was 6@12 when Yakintup and I hit Devils Punch Bowl for my virgin trip in the salt.   That was not fun until I got thrown back up on the beach during my first "huli".  Mixed lack of sleep with hauling two yaks down the stairs, with Dramamine that was trying hard to knock me out.  Every trip out since then for me, has been a much much better experience.  ;D
