All,

Whoops!  That was supposed to be "10-07-09", this Wed., tomorrow!

Charliefl66 and myself are going to hit the Stilli tomorrow a.m.  The prognosis is that, yes, we WILL both limit on coho before we head back to the house.  Anybody else up for some of this?

I'll report back here tomorrow night... win, lose, or draw.

If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

Flytyer,

It's complicated, so I P.M.ed you.  I hope to see you there.  Or at least maybe soon.

Ehmm.... well, we got over there WAY too late in the morning.  High tide was at 8:00 and we got there at about 8:30 or 9:00.  SO we got what we deserved and were thoughroughly skunked.  As we came down the bank to the river we met a guy coming up who had just taken his limit of sivers and was heading home.

So of course we did the only logical thing and agreed to be on that same spot tomorrow morning, but hopefully about 2 hrs earlier than today.  The high tide for the morning will be right at 9:00 and so that should help too.  Again, I'll report back here tomorrow afternoon.

Okay!!!  I'm quite proud of the fact that we accomplished what we said we'd do for this morning:  we were in position and ready to fish easily by 7:15 this morning.

Yeah, okay, not nearly so proud to tell you that we didn't take home any fish again today.  We were doing all the right things and I caught a large-humped pink and hooked but lost something smaller than that male pink.  The smaller fish might just have been a very small silver as it was reasonably bright.  Saw probably 2 or 3 other pinks caught and released.  All catching of either species has really slowed WAY down.

I saw only ONE definite silver caught today.  That was caught by a guy across the bank from me.  Within maybe 10 minutes of stringing that one he was letting out a long string of cursing when he checked to find his fish missing.  He forgot to close the hasp on the stringer.  Ahhh, live and learn.

We are not planning to go back now until we get some rain to bring some more of those little buggers up the river to us.  I gotta take this chance to say that it was both fascinating and great to see so many humpy carcasses all along the river.  It looks to me like the different birds were all so stuffed that they've gotten to the point where they only bother to take the eyes from any new bodies.  Also, in the really shallow gravel flats we saw millions upon millions of tiny fry.  They were SO small, they weren't much bigger than a grain of sand.  If those guys are any indication, we should be having a great bumper crop of pinks in another 2 years!

Those don't sound like pinks.  It's too soon.

Coho in the rivers can be notoriously lock jawed fish so don't feel too bad. Thanks for the report.

Hey guys. Was also on the Stilly this am at daybreak.Launched at the Memorial Bridge ramp, paddled my way up river and began trolling a 50/50 Dick Nite with a 1/2 oz
banana weight. No takers.Switched to my homemade spinners, same thing,NADA,then went to a wiggle wart and guess what? A big ZERO. beautiful morning though.I'm done for a short bit with my wife in the hospital and the last day of my vacation I'm getting an abcessed tooth pulled. Guess I won't be biting either.

I also hold some of the old wiggle warts in my tackle box.  I know that the rule on the sound is that you can only use one point on one hook unless you fish from a boat, in which case you can use two hooks with one point each.  From a river bank?  I'm not sure but I think you can only use a one single, one point hook.  Seems like that would leave the wiggle warts all but useless if that is correct.

The treble hooks can be swapped out for singles.

Ummm, I'll take those nasty wiggle warts off your hands. ::)

One single-point hook from shore.  Two single-point hooks from a floating device.  Hooks must measure 3/4" or less (point to shank).

Thanks for the confirmation on the 2 hook rule fishing from the kayak vs shore on the Stilly. Either way, barbs have to be pinched down on this river. i love the smell of my
Fish & Wildlife regs book(or is that napalm?) in the morn.Fascinating reading with a
Jack Daniels.
