Okay so everybody already has their license already, but if you don't,,  It's free fishing weekend!

It's an especially great day to take the kids fishing! (This is how I earned my day pass for Sunday  ;D )
There are a lots of cool FREE scheduled events around the state by ODFW.
I've worked the event for a couple of years at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, this year I get to be dad.
9 to 1 on Saturday. Basically its a tour around the facility where the kids stop at a number of stations to learn about fish and fishing. Then they get to practice their new skills in the waaay overstocked ponds. Everything is provided and your child will have to try really hard not to catch a fish. At the last station they clean and bag your fish. Great time for all and well worth the price (FREE) and effort.

If you have not been to the hatchery before, this is a nice time to see it. Beautifully landscaped, huge trout ponds, and Herman the enormous Sturgeon in a viewing tank. On top of that, the Shad are in and the fishing from the bank is off the hook (outside of the fishery)  Again, there are events all over the state, but I've only done the one at Bonneville.
