This is the official invite for all that would like to join me on the canal Mon morning. I'm thinking about a 0700 launch from either Potlach or next to the pier in Hoodsport just south of the hatchery.(unless anyone has any suggestions) My fly rod will be my primary, but I'm taking jigs, as well as a sabiki rig in hopes of live herring. Sunrise is @ 0709, and high tide @ 1034 with 12' exchange. As long as the wind isn't blowing 30mph, or a freak cold front blows in a snow storm, I'll be there. I'll post by Sun my launch site.

rav - please include me in any PM's since there is the slight possibility that I can go too.  Also, if you need info. on launch site (I launched from Potlatch last week) let me know.  It's pretty straight forward though.

I found this site and thought it might be of intrest to those somewhat new to salmon fishing.
I found it helpful.

Thanks SD for the link and Ravdakot for the invite. Unfortunately, I'm back to work and need to give 5 business days notice to take time off.

So what flies have you tied up and plan to use on the outing?

Thanks,
FT396

Have that day off and even with a long drive from Marysville,I might be up for it.
A bunch of CHROME DOGS vs the 10 or so real dogs I hit on the Sky yesterday sounds great. Can't seem to post my pics from the Sky.
Keep me posted by PM
Thanks Rich

So where do we want to launch? After reading the article that SD posted; anywhere from Hoodsport south should be good. Anyone got a report from huntinhick? He might be able to give us some extra incite as well since he lives up there.

SG, I need to give you your camera back. I don't know if you got my email about it. Unfortunately only Sony can save this one :( You ready to brave the canal again? Make sure to put some waterwings on that VHF :cussing:

Ravdakot & all,

Sure wish I could join you, but unfortunately I have to work on Monday. Those chums are a real handful on a fly rod!

rav - when I hit the canal 8 days ago I launched from Potlatch.  There were chums all over the place.. the whole way up to Hoodsport... I even tried to turn and chase and fish a few "fast" moving schools that looked like they knew where they were headed.  Hoodsport by far though, had the largest concentration and it was only 100+ yards or so from there where I hooked up with 2 big ones.

Potlatch is a double wide concrete launch with lots of parking and porta pody  :).  I don't know anything about the launch right near Hoodsport, but it was a good paddle... about 2 1/4 miles.

I'm feeling a 0700 launch from the pier just south of the hatchery. With the info drool has posted, and the incoming tide, I think this would be our best bet. Should we want to move further south, we can ride the incoming tide down/out going back.

if this goes off and SG does hook into a dog, she's in for the fight of her life. she doesnt know the reputation of chums hitting and running like you tied into a freight train  >:D >:D ;D
